Director
Ira is C.E.O. of Common Sense Media Productions, Inc. He is also married with two children and lives in Commack, NY. His background includes outstanding work as a film Director and Producer, but it is as an award winning Editor of commercials, PSA's, broadcast programs, music videos and corporate promotional projects for which he is best known.
Ira graduated from CUNY Brooklyn College in 1975 with a Bachelor's Degree with a major in psychology and is an author of a book on men's health. He served as an adjunct professor at a local college teaching a number of courses in digital post production and is currently employing a number of his students in professional productions.
In 1984-1985, Ira was the Director of the Film & TV Department for The Muscular Dystrophy Association. He created and supervised all internal programming for the Association and served as Head of Post Production for the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
In a career that spans over 30 years, Ira's work as a Director has included commercials for Pepsi, The U.S Army, Mastercard, Anacin, Dunkin Donuts and Miller Beer, for agencies such as BBDO, Bates USA, Chiat Day, J. Walter Thompson, Grey Advertising, The Martin Agency and others.
Some of his program credits as an award winning Editor includes "An Invitation to China" for American Express (which he also directed), "The New Yorker," an award-winning Japanese series, plus two documentaries for NHK Japan, the Emmy Award winning "Reading Rainbow," and over 150 promotional pieces for CBS, including the 1998 Olympics and The Grammy Award Show. Ira currently serves on a committee for the National Disabled Veterans Business Council.
